Fechner Day 2001, Leipzig, 20.-24. 10. 2001

Submission of Manuscripts for Talks and Posters

Deadline for the submission of manuscripts:
August 10th, 2001

Preparation of Manuscripts

  1. The manuscripts have to be submitted in English, fully formatted with tables, figures and references included in the text.
    Do not number pages.
The maximum manuscript length for either a talk or a poster is 6 pages.

  2. You can submit papers in A4 or A5 paper format but finally the documents will be printed in A5 paper format. This means the printable area is about 4.5 x 7 inches (11.4 x 17.8 cm) in size.
If you submit in A4 format: Set margins of one inch (2.5 cm) on all sides. Use a font like Times New Roman 12. Consider that graphics will be reduced in size to 70% compared to standard printing. Therefore:
Do not use thin lines or small fonts in graphs.

  3. Type up to about 55 lines per page. Use wider than single-spacing if that is convenient to improve readability and utilize any empty space on your last page.
For uniformity of documents, justify left and right edges.

  4. Style guidelines (adapted from the ones of Fechner Day 99):
    Headings:
They should be written in bold type. A main heading should be preceded by two lines except for the Abstract heading and followed by one. Side headings should be preceded by one line and also followed by one.
    Title:
Title should be typed in capital letters and centered at the top of the first page, three lines below the top margin.
    Authors, affiliations and e-mail addresses:
Type name of the author(s) in upper and lowercase letters, centered two lines below the title. Center the affiliation(s) and e-mail address(es) on the next line.
    Abstract:
Place Abstract heading centered and four lines below the affiliation of the last author. The text of the abstract should begin two lines below the heading.Use italic typeface for the abstract.
    Main text:
Start the main text three lines below the abstract. Do not use the Introduction heading! Use block alignment.
    References:
The References heading should be treated as a main heading according to the typing instructions above. References to unpublished material are not allowed.
    Tables:
Place the table title three lines below the text and start the following text two lines below.
    Figures:
Insert copy-ready figures in the text two lines below the text. Type a figure caption under each figure. The text should start three lines below the figure caption.
    Equations:
If convenient, center and number equations and separate them from the text by one line above and one below.
    Footnotes:
Avoid footnotes. If unavoidable, place one footnote at the end of the reference list, marked with an asterisk.

Submission of Manuscripts

To avoid problems and ensure a good quality of the abstract volume we would like you to submit your contribution threefold:

    Institut fuer Allgemeine Psychologie
    University Leipzig
    Seeburgstr. 14-20
    04103 Leipzig

Enable saving of font information within the documents if you used rare fonts.

  3. Send us a file via email containing the document in Adobe Postscript Level 1 or Adobe PDF format.
Postscript files can be generated on any platform if the appropriate drivers are installed (See below for installation of Postscript drivers).
The PDF file should have publication quality (check the settings in Distiller).

Email to isp_proceedings@uni-leipzig.de.
Set subject to poster manuscript submission or talk manuscript submission
Send author(s), title and abstract in the body of the message.
Attach the two files to the message.

Checking of Documents

  1. Check graphics, formulas and rare symbols for proper printing.

  2. If possible print the Postscript file using the free ghostscript program and do the checking again.

We are looking forward to receiving your submission.

Print 1 copy (all pages) to LaserWriter Select 360 and save the file as PostScript job ASCII Level 1 compatible with all fonts included.
